TCT 2013

TCT 25 - In Partnership with the ACC - Reinventing the Future Every Year
The Cardiovascular Research Foundation ("CRF")

Oct 27 - Nov 1, 2013
The Moscone Center
San Francisco, CA

This is the 25th year of the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics meeting! In recognition of this, what would be "TCT 2013" is - for this year: "TCT 25".

TCT is the World's largest, privately funded medical meeting in the field of interventional therapies. It also has more live case transmissions than any other meeting. This year, there will be 21 sites from around the world transmitting live medical procedures and content into a meeting with an audience of 13,000 doctors, technologist, specialists nurses, students and industry representatives.

All transmissions into the meeting will be in High Definition.

There are three (3) main venues presenting live case transmissions - the Main Arena, Coronary Theatre, and the Endovascular/Structural Heart Theatre. There will also be a live, two-way telecast of an "FDA Townhall Meeting" presented by representatives of the Food & Drug Administration from their Washington, DC area studios.

Notes on International Time Zones - Daylight Savings and Summer Time

International Time Zones, and the conversion from "Daylight Savings Time" and "Summer Time" to and from "Standard Time" are a big issue for TCT 2013. Within the two weeks of TCT 2013, three global regions will make seasonal time-zone adjustments. Also, the TCT meeting itself has change from the "Eastern" to "Pacific" time-zones in the USA.

Here is a review of how the clocks, terminology and scheduling will change in the coming weeks.

  1. TCT 2013 time scheduling is based on Pacific Daylights (Savings) Time - or "PDT". All scheduling should be based upon this time zone.
    1. NOTE: Early copies of the Live Case Schedule were mistakenly notated in Eastern (EDT) time. Please make a note this correction.

  2. All Times will be co-referenced to Coordinated Universal Time - "UTC".
    1. This time-zone does not change seasonally.

  3. The United States and Canada change from "Daylights Savings Time" to "Standard Time" at 02:00 on November 3rd.
    1. Clocks across the USA and Canada "Fall Back" one (1) hour from UTC.

  4. Europe and Israel change from "Summer Time" and "Daylight Time" to "Standard Time" on Sunday, October 27th.
    1. Clocks in these regions "Fall Back" one hour to UTC.
      1. Israel converts from IDT (UTC +3) to IST (UTC +2)
      2. Central Europe converts from CEST (UTC +2) to CET (UTC +1)
      3. The United Kingdom converts from BST (GMT +1) to GMT

  5. Brazil changes from "Brasilia Time" (BRT) to "Brasilia Summer Time" (BRST) on Sunday, October 20th.
    1. At this time, clocks "Spring Forward" in Brazil one (1) hour towards UTC.
      1. BRT is (UTC -3), BRST is (UTC-2)

  6. Transmission Sites in Asia do not use Daylights Savings Time or Summer Time seasonal adjustments.

In Summary: Part of the World moves one hour closer in time to TCT 2013, part of the World moves one hour away from TCT 2013, but most of the World stays the same (at least until AFTER the meeting!)

PLEASE check your timings! There have been transmissions where sites didn't account for the time changes. Patients were left waiting - or were not ready - for the live case to begin.
